Scout Badges at the North Hills Art Center
The North Hills Art Center can provide your scouts Brownies, Jr. Girl Scouts, Cadets, Cub and Boy Scouts, with the requirements they need to complete and earn the following art badges.
All workshops must have a minimum of 5 scouts and a deposit of $ 50.00 must be paid one week prior to the workshop.
FOR YOUNGER SCOUTS
Art to Wear
Scouts will tie dye a T-shirt, and then create their own jewelry and masks. Scouts must provide their own t-shirt to dye, as they art center does NOT supply any articles to dye.

Puppets, Dolls, and Plays
This workshop with show scouts how to make finger puppets, a yarn doll, a paper bag puppet, and a marionette to use in creating plays.

SCOUTING WORKSHOPS
Architecture
Participants will learn about different styles of architecture and get started designing their own
spaces. Projects include designing a garden, creating a scale drawing, and creating a 3D space.

Participants work in found object art, three-dimensional design, and abstract sculpture. They also have the option of visiting our art gallery.

Art to Wear
Projects for this workshop can include tie dying, macramé, quilting, braiding, and beadwork. Weaving can be discussed. Scout must bring their own item to dye, as the North Hills Art Center does not supply any materials to dye.

Come explore paints, pastels, colored pencils and more while learning different drawing and painting techniques including perspective, shading, proportion, and color wheel.

Prints and Graphics
The many aspects of printmaking are explored and projects can include relief printing from natural materials, block printing, and spatter or sun printing.

Jeweler
The art of jewelry is the focus as Scouts create Jewelry from found objects, objects found in nature, and macramé knots as well as creating their own unique jewelry box. A tour of the gallery is included.

Ceramics and Clay
Scouts explore the art of hand-built pottery using the slab method, coil method, and modeling. A demonstration of wheel throwing and the workings of a kiln are explored. Choice of air-dry or bisque fired clay. Bisque fired pieces must be left for firing.
Workshop price: $17 per Scout for 3 hours
or $ 27 per Scout if Leaders opt to schedule an additional 2-hour glazing workshop to glaze pieces.

Visual Arts
Scouts study mixing colors, shades, and tints, explore primary and secondary colors and the color wheel. They design black and white and color paintings.
